🏛️ Type of Architecture: Parametric Design and Biomorphic Architecture (mimicking the DNA structure). It was designed by a team that included COX Architecture, Architects 61, and Arup.
🏛️ Location: Spanning across Marina Bay, connecting Marina Centre with Marina South (near Marina Bay Sands).
🏛️ Other Trivia: The bridge is constructed primarily from stainless steel, with a complex network of opposing double helix structures that create a lightweight and visually appealing design. At night, the bridge is illuminated with a series of colored lights that highlight its double helix form, making it a popular spot for photography.
Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay


Why it's Iconic: Affectionately nicknamed "The Durian" due to its spiky facade, the Esplanade is a prominent performing arts center that has become a cultural icon. Its unique shape makes it instantly identifiable and reflects Singapore's vibrant arts scene.
Type of Architecture: Contemporary Architecture with Biomorphic influences (inspired by the durian fruit). Designed by local firm DP Architects and British firm Michael Wilford & Partners.
Location: Situated along Marina Bay, near the mouth of the Singapore River.
Other Trivia: The distinctive aluminum sunshades covering the exterior not only create its iconic spiky appearance but also serve a practical purpose by regulating internal temperature and providing shade, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable design principles. The Esplanade houses a concert hall and a theatre, both acoustically designed for world-class performances, making it a premier venue for local and international artists.
Its location along the waterfront and its public spaces further enhance its role as a cultural and recreational hub.
PARKROYAL Collection Pickering


Why it's Iconic: This hotel is a groundbreaking example of sustainable and biophilic architecture, seamlessly integrating lush greenery into its facade. Its "hotel-in-a-garden" concept stands as a vibrant, green landmark in the heart of the city, demonstrating how urban development can coexist with nature. It has won numerous awards for its innovative design.
Type of Architecture: Biophilic Architecture, Sustainable Architecture, and Green Building Design. Designed by the acclaimed WOHA Architects.
Location: Located on Upper Pickering Street, near Chinatown and Clarke Quay.
Other Trivia: The building features over 15,000 square meters of sky gardens, waterfalls, and planter walls, effectively extending the nearby Hong Lim Park into the vertical plane of the hotel. The terraced gardens are designed to be self-sustaining, collecting rainwater and powered by solar energy. Its unique undulating forms are inspired by natural rock formations and rice paddies.
Apple Store - Marina Bay


Why it's Iconic: This is Apple's first store in the world to sit directly on the water, appearing as a luminous "floating sphere" or "floating lantern" on Marina Bay. Its stunning all-glass dome structure offers uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of the city skyline, making it an architectural marvel and a global retail landmark
Type of Architecture: Contemporary Architecture with Biomimetic (resembling a sphere/bubble) and Minimalist influences. Designed by Foster + Partners, a firm renowned for many of Apple's flagship stores and iconic structures like Apple Park headquarters.
Location: Located in Marina Bay, adjacent to Marina Bay Sands. Visitors can enter the store either via a bridge from the Marina Bay Sands boardwalk. Underwater Entrance: Use the underwater tunnel connected to The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands mall.
Other Trivia: This is an All-Glass Dome, a 30-meter-diameter sphere is a first-of-its-kind, fully self-supported all-glass dome, comprised of 114 pieces of glass with minimal structural connections
